I live like two feet away from the bridge and thought my apartment was falling down when I heard the noise and felt it shake, so I went outside and saw a big dust cloud where the bridge used to be.

I just got this type cabinet. The cabinet itself is in pretty rough shape, but the gold is the 10 drawers of wood type. All complete fonts and all in really good shape. Alittle dusty and with some superficial surface mold, but nothing a wipe with a rag won't take care of. If you want to see whats inside click here.

No Coast

The No-Coast Craft-o-Rama went, I thought, really well. Over 8,000 people came. It was pretty crazy all day. I made a ton of sales and contacts, and I sold a lot of Eireann's stuff too. A couple of local shops also talked to me about carrying my stuff, which would be cool.

I'm going to apply for the 2007 Saint Paul Craftstravaganza, which will be on Saturday, April 28, 2007 from 9am to 4pm at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds Fine Arts Building. I think the Fine Arts Building will be a really great place for it.

I'm hoping to get some photos taken of my new cards this week so I can finally start posting here again! I'm also working on my website and getting my online shop up and running.

A long time coming

I finally had some time to get my website together. It still needs some work, but its actually on its way to being something alot more functional and informative. Check it out.

Today was my last day at work. I plan to focus on my own work: prints and letterpress things.

I recently accepted the Jerome Emerging Printmakers' Residency at Highpoint Center for Printmaking. It's a nine-month residency with full access to a printshop and materials. I'm most likely going to be making a bunch of etchings. Maybe some in combination with screenprinting.

No more office for me.

new cards done

I am working on a huge batch of flat and folded cards (among other things) for Eireann's table at the Design Fiesta, which is on Saturday. These are three of the new designs: bicycle, frog, interlocking fishes. Last night we ground all the ink and I printed these. Tonight I'm printing the birdcage, double birds, and probably two other blocks. Good times.

Should we abolish capital letters? I think so.

We also watched part of the TV series "Weeds" yesterday, while grinding the ink. It was pretty good.

I am having some blocks made by Pella Engraving. For right now, they are all royalty-free images, but I'm going to do some hand-drawn ones eventually. There are 16. I'll be printing them for the Soap Factory's Design Fiesta (they will be on Eireann's table) on stationery, cards, and a few other things. Here is one of the images:

In the meantime, just applying for fellowships and residencies and working. I'm looking for a new job now, so if you're near the Twin Cities and know of something in graphic design, art, or production, let me know. I want to have more time to work on my website and take more orders, too, so hopefully I can find something that is just over part-time. We'll see.

We just painted our bathroom a nice blue-grey color. Then all this week I will be printing.

business cards

For the Saint Paul Craftstravaganza, I printed some business cards. Eireann had a table there and let me put out some cards, to get the name out in the Twin Cities a little bit. It was excruciatingly hot in the building where the fair was, but business was really good and quite a few people took my cards, so that was nice.

I hand-inked the type instead of using the fountain, so the impression has more variation. I like that a lot.

I finally started my website. If you would like to see, it is here. Right now it's just a splash page, but I'm hoping to get my price lists and other information up this weekend. I'm finished moving, too, so I will be able to start printing again.

Thank you to everyone for the attention, queries, and orders. I'm just coming out from under a backlog of emails spurred on by Amy's post, but please rest assured that I will respond as soon as I possibly can.

I'll be posting here with more information as well, so please check back. In the meantime, up there is a picture of the chase all locked up and ready to print.
